Day 1	FLY TO MOSCOW Fly from the UK to Moscow. Welcome to Russia’s most enigmatic city! Get ready to start your trip as you are transferred to the hotel Cosmos. Dine at the hotel (or nearby) and relax!
Day 2	MOSCOW Today will bring the best known sights of Moscow as you embark on a comprehensive city tour. You will also get to visit the Tretiakov Gallery and explore some of Russia’s finest art. In the evening, take a visit to the world famous Moscow Circus.

The Rise and Fall of Northern Russia tour: St. Petersburg/Petrozavodsk/Belomorsk/Pushkin

This tour provides a special experience with a sense of adventure as you visit the second largest flat land waterfall in Europe and delve into the intricate history of the Hermitage.

Historically the Solovetsky islands have been the setting of the famous Russian Orthodox Solovetsy Monastery. It was founded in the second quarter of the 15th century. By the end of the 16th century, the abbey had emerged as one of the wealthiest landowners and most influential religious centres in Russia. The existing stronghold and its major churches were erected in stone during the early reign of Ivan the Terrible.

After the Revolution in Russia the islands attained some notoriety as the site of the first Soviet prison camp. The camp was inaugurated as a "detention camp" in 1921, while Lenin was still at the helm of Soviet Russia. It was transformed into a prison in 1929 and now presents what used to be named GULAG.

In 1974, the Solovetsky Islands were designated a historical and architectural museum and a natural reserve of the USSR. In 1992, they were inscribed on the World Heritage List "as an outstanding example of a monastic settlement in the inhospitable environment of northern Europe which admirably illustrates the faith, tenacity, and enterprise of later medieval religious communities". Today, the Solovki are seen as a major tourist magnet in the orbit of the Russian North.

Day 1	ST PETERSBURG Your exciting journey begins as you are transferred to the Moskva Hotel in St Petersburg.
Day 2	ST PETERSBURG Your second day in the enchanting St Petersburg begins with a trip to the wonderful Peter and Paul’s Fortress.
Day 3	ST PETERSBURG Today’s agenda is filled with history and culture as you take a trip to the infamous Hermitage Museum before travelling onward to Petrozavodsk.
Day 4	PETROZAVODSK Petrozavodsk is at your disposal as you soak in the atmosphere with a city tour, followed by an excursion to Kizhi Island, which is situated on Lake Onega. Accommodation is provided at the Hotel Severnaya.
Day 5	PETROZAVODSK Embark on an exciting adventure today as you visit the second largest flat land waterfall in Europe. The Kivatch waterfall is situated on Suna River and is known for its picturesque beauty. You then transfer to Belomorsk.
Day 6	BELOMORSK An excursion to the beautiful Solovetsky Isles will encompass your full day, with a visit to the former Soviet Gulag Camp. A departure for St Petersburg signifies the end of your time in Belomorsk. Accommodation is provided at the Hotel Gatdwik.
Day 7	ST PETERSBURG As you arrive back in St Petersburg you will get to experience the truly beautiful Pushkin Palace which is also named after Catherine the First.

Day 6	UGLICH A city tour of Uglich puts you in the mood for a visit to a Vodka Museum where you can taste the traditional Russian beverage. After, enjoy lunch with a Russian family before taking a boat cruise and departing for Tver. Accommodation at the hotel including dinner.
Day 7	TVER - NOVGOROD VELIKIY After a morning meal benefit from a cultural city tour of Tver before travelling to Rostov Velikiy where you can spend the night in the Hotel Volkhov. Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner.
